Christmas Paper Treat Box by Grace

Friday, November 21, 2014

Hi there Ribbons Unlimited friends. Today I’d like to share a project that can easily be mass produced and could hold your favorite Holiday handmade gift or like me, just fill it up with candy and you are good to go.

Instructions:
1. Using a full 12x12 sheet of paper, Score at 1”, 4”, 8” and 11”. Turn the paper 90 degrees and repeat the scoring process. Fold on the scored marks.

2. Cut at the 4” and 8” marks leaving a 4” square box in the center. If you desire, you can cut away 2x4” on each corner of the template. I did this for the first one to trim down the excess paper and the layers of paper won’t be too bulky but I found that it lost some important structure so I opted not to trim the corners on the second box.
Punch out a border on each edge of the box. Grabbing the two 2x4” pieces towards the center, adhere them together and then adhere one side of the box over them. Fold the edge over the front.

3. To reinforce the structure of the first box, I adhered a strip of the red checkered ribbon around the box.

4. Adhere the ends over each other using some glue dots.

5. Punch out a hole on two adjacent sides of the box. Adhere the checkered ribbon over the gold trim.

6. Thread both ribbons through your holes, and adhere the ends inside the box using some tape.

7. Create two bows from the gold ribbon and adhere on the sides of the box, covering the holes you’ve created for the handle.

 8. Add a sentiment block using paper and stickers. Repeat the process for how many boxes you need to make.

Here’s some more close ups…

Thank you for joining me today and I hope this helped you find ways to incorporate your ribbons and papercrafting supplies in your gift giving this season.

Happy Creating,
Grace

Cheerleading Centerpiece with Jamie

Friday, November 7, 2014

Good morning!  Jamie back with you today!  We are gearing up for competitive cheer season and today I am sharing my new 3D Paper Megaphone!  This project is great for individual cheerleaders or to use as a table centerpiece!

I am using the Silver Luxor Ribbon for both of these projects.  This ribbon has a delicious shimmer to it so it draws in a lot of attention AND it is wired so the bow really holds its shape well!  You can find more colors of the Luxor Ribbons here!

This file is really easy to assemble, you simply place adhesive on the tabs and wrap the paper around and adhere the tabs to the paper to form the cone shape.  Layer the banner and adhere with a foam square to the megaphone then adhere the cheer sentiments in place and adhere with foam to the banner.  Tie the Silver Luxor Ribbon around the handle in a bow then tie twine around the bow center.

Thanks so much for stopping by today!

Live, Laugh, Love Frame with Grace

Friday, June 20, 2014

I am always on a hunt to find treasures in the clearance bin of my local craft store. At one certain visit I found some place card holder frames that went down to 99 cents. I didn’t know (at that time) what I will make with them but I couldn’t pass them up.
Fast forward to this week, I was looking at a certain wall in my home and found it to be lonely and bare. The thought of hanging up a saying on it came to mind and I knew that the frames and some gold wired ribbon from Ribbon’s Unlimited will brighten up that spot.
Here’s how I created my home décor project….

1. First, I grabbed my frames and the ribbon. I then went through my stash to find papers and letters that would fit the frame and also match with all the colors that I’m going to use.

2. Next, I took of the easel back of the frames. I wouldn’t need it since I’m adhering them onto the ribbon. That was an extra bulk that I didn’t need. Luckily I was able to easily take it off.

3. Third, I measured the inside of the frame and cut out my papers according to the size. I then adhered them onto the inside cardboard of the frame, added the plastic on the front and slipped them back into the frames. *I initially used the green floral paper but after trying to place the letters on top of it, I realized that the pattern on the paper clashed with my letters. So I changed it with the star paper instead.

4. Then I added my letters over the plastic cover of my frames.

5. Using a glue gun, I adhered the frames onto the ribbon.  I added a ring on top of the ribbon so it can easily be hung anywhere.  I added a bow from the same wired ribbon on the top.

6. I added a velvet flower on the center of the bow for a finished look.

Here’s another look at the finished project and some more detailed shots…

Thank you for joining me today.

Happy Crafting,
Grace

Framed Holiday Decor with Christine

Wednesday, December 4, 2013

Hi Ribbons Unlimited Fans!  Christine joining you again today! I'm so excited that it is the Christmas Season and today I have simple way to add some holiday decor to your home.

One thing I like to do is switch out some of the pictures in my picture frames for a Christmas look.  I go very simple!  All you need is a vibrant piece of Christmas patterned paper.  This one comes from Doodlebug Design.  Then if you add ribbon you can make it look like the top of a present.

I added a real simple bow (that doesn't look simple.)  First of all the key to making this bow easy and with lots of dimension is to use wired ribbon (for this one I used the Luxor Wired Metallic Ribbon in red).  To make it simply cut 7 strips of equal sized ribbon.  Fold them in half and staple the ends together.   Then lay 6 out to look like the base of the bow.  Cover up the mess center with one more in the middle (use some good fabric glue and it sticks in nice and easy).  Then use your fingers to puff them up and make them pretty!  I also left the glass off the frame, so that my bow wouldn't get smashed back down!

Hope your holiday season has started off wonderfully!
