Easy No Sew Ribbon Headband by Jamie

Saturday, August 29, 2015

Hey everyone,

Jamie here and today I have an easy no-sew ribbon head band to share.

The supplies you will need:
Gray fold over elastic smaller than your ribbon (any color you like will work)
Hot glue gun
Hot glue stick(s)
Scissors
button or something similar to put in the middle of your flower (optional)
grip shelf liner (optional for lining the inside of the ribbon to help it stay in place on the head)

Step 1.
Measure out your ribbon by putting it around the head it will be going on. Cut it a few inches shorter than the full amount to go around the head.

Step 2.
Measure your elastic by putting it with the ribbon and fitting it around the head. You will want to make it so that it has to stretch to fit around the head (so that it stays on).

Step 3. (optional)
Here is where you would make your flower. To make the flower take the ribbon and pleat it in a circle while adding hot glue to the center to hold it down. Continue this until the circle is complete. Once the circle is finished hot glue a button (or item of your choice) to the center of your circle. Once your flower is finished hot glue it to the ribbon and place it wherever you want it (I choose to go off to the side slightly).

Step 4. (optional)
This is where you would line the inside of your ribbon with the grip shelf liner. Draw a line of hot glue on the inside of the ribbon a little at a time and push your liner down into the glue line. You will want to have the liner run the length of your ribbon.

Step 5.
Add a hot glue line at the end of the ribbon on the inside and place one end of your elastic on it. Than do the same to the other side of your ribbon and elastic making sure not to get it twisted.

Step 6.
Enjoy your new headband!

Thanks for stoppin' by and have a great day!

Woven Ribbon Tutorial by Jamie

Wednesday, July 23, 2014

Good Morning!  Jamie with you today to share a fun
tutorial for creating a woven ribbon!  You can use the woven ribbon to create
barrettes, headbands, bracelets or even as an embellishment for layouts or cards!

Today I am working with Ribbons Unlimited Inc.'s Double Faced Satin Ribbon in Copper in 1/4" width.  This tutorial will work with other ribbon types as well and you could even use two different colors of ribbon to change it up!

Here's the tutorial:
1.  Cut two pieces of ribbon of equal lengths.
2.  Place glue a little over an inch in on one of the ribbons.  Fold the end over to form about a 1/2" loop and adhere the end on the glue.
3.  Repeat the step for the other ribbon.  Your ribbons should look like this now.
4.  Slide one loop through the other.
5.  Next form a loop (bringing the ribbon up on itself) with the ribbon that you slid the other loop through.
6.  Push the loop through the loop that you slid through in step #4.
7.  Next form a loop with the second ribbon as you did above.
8.  Push that loop through the other loop.  Pulling the ribbons tight as you go.
9-11. Continue forming loops and passing them through, alternating ribbons as you go.
12.  Continue until you have your desire lengths.  Trim your ribbon.
13.  Place glue under the braided ribbon end.
14.  Place glue under the second braided ribbon end.
15.  Trim the ribbon ends.
16.  Hot glue the woven ribbon on your headband.
17.  Cut another piece of matching ribbon and tie in a bow around the headband.

Here's a look at the headband in hair!

Be sure to check out all of the ribbon selections HERE.
Thanks so much for stopping by today!

Ten Minute Headbands with Christine

Friday, October 25, 2013

Hi Ribbons Unlimited Fans!  Christine back with you today!  Do you remember that 6 year old that always loses hairbows (check out the five minute hairbow tutorial here)?  Well she loses headbands too!  Today I am going to show you a quick way to make a stylish headband!
Ten Minute Headband by Christine Meyer for Ribbons Unlimited

All you need for supplies is ribbon and a traditional elastic rubber band!  Ribbons Unlimited has a great selection of ribbons from patterned, to glittery, to the always popular animal prints...you can definitely find what you are looking for!

I used ribbon that was about 18 1/2 inches long....this will be dependent on the size of the head of your girl.  I then folded it over the rubber band about an inch and stitched back and forth.  I went 3 times each way to ensure it would hold well.  Do the same on the other side.  Then simply slide it on and you are done!  I made up a whole bunch of these and now she's got a bunch to match different outfits!

Satin Headband with Pinky

Wednesday, September 18, 2013

Good morning Ribbons Unlimited friends,

Pinky here today with a fun tutorial post.
If you have a girl or wear headbands- you probably have that old headband
around that you just can't part with because it's not broken yet.
I have several, so I decided to upcycle and refresh them!
Step 1. Start at the end of the headband place a dot of hot glue.
Step 2. Place Ribbons Unlimited ribbon on inside edge and wrap twice tightly.
Step 3. Wrap ribbon around headband working your way up the side,
using sporadic dots of glue.
Step 4. Stop wrapping halfway up- using broken necklace or beads
hot glue beads or necklace onto headband. Make sure beads or necklace
are still strung.
Step 5. Wrap ribbon around beads as shown.
Step 6. End with tightly wrapped ribbon and dot of glue.

Watch the smiles begin!
A beautiful band for a beautiful child.

I hope you were inspired by today's post to get out there and use RIBBON!
Its the perfect shade!
Until next time- keep on creating!
