Gift Bow with Jamie Cripps

Wednesday, November 27, 2013

Good Morning Ribbons Fans!
Jamie back with you today to share a fabulous tutorial for making homemade gift bows I found over on Monica Edward's blog!  The bows are super easy and the results are stunning…just have a look!

The image to the left is after the bow was removed from the template and the image to the right is the finished bow once pulling all the layers apart!

For this bow I am using the Giraffe Print Grosgrain Ribbon in 7/8".  This ribbon is a little stiffer than some of my other grosgrain ribbons so it wrapped around the template well and also holds it shape!

You can find more Animal Print Ribbons through the link below:

And be sure to check out Monika's tutorial to create your own gift bows!

Thanks so much for stopping by today!

Reverse Canvas with a Ribbon Border by Christine

Friday, November 22, 2013

Hi Ribbons Unlimited Fans!  Thank goodness it is finally Friday!!!  We're in the final haul before we head to the full blown excitement of the holidays and today I thought I'd share a canvas with you that I created using some holiday leftovers from last year!
Reverse canvas using holiday decor
As you have probably noticed, I like to use crafty items in different ways and today's project is no exception.  First of all I flipped over my canvas and created a reverse canvas.  Why? Because I wanted some wood to show that would coordinate with the wood on my embroidery hoop.  To create my border I used red satin ribbon (Double Face Satin Ribbon in Camellia Rose - 5/8") and laid it out so that it was right in the middle of the wood and white (leaving a little of each showing).  I wanted a little bit of pattern to things so I then topped it off striped washi tape.  My heart on my embroidery hoop is made up of tinsel garland that is attached to a big paper heart.  Once I glued all the garland on I simply trimmed off the excess around the edges and then added a pearl border.

Wednesday, November 20, 2013

Hey there RU friends,
It's me Pinky again with another luscious project using the beautiful

If you want to really make your holidays handmade these mini albums
are the perfect gift to give to ANYONE because everyone has a photo
to display from the largest family to the pet owner.
Nothing makes more of a statement for luxury than some beautiful
I placed it everywhere in this mini album I created for the holidays.
You might  not think of Tiffany Blue as a holiday color, but
this pink haired gal begs to differ!
Make it big and luxurious and that blue pops off the page!
For this smaller bow I simply folded the ribbon in half and
created the bow- it was so easy and worked perfectly.
I am one step closer to having a 100% handmade holiday thanks

Holiday Tag with Jill

Friday, November 15, 2013

Hi guys, it's Jill and for today's project the beautiful blue of the Sky Blue Ombre ribbon inspired my entire color scheme!  Incorporating the pretty blue along with traditional red and green Christmas colors helps make this tag "pop."

IMG_1010
To create the tag, I stamped my image (Penny Black) in black ink and colored with Faber-Castell Design Memory Craft markers and pastel pencils.  Three punched circles, lightly distressed with Brushed Corduroy, were added to the tag with dimensional adhesive along with the stamped sentiment!

Our Ombre Ribbon has a gradient pattern and transitions from one color to another!
Be sure to check out the variety of Ombre Ribbons in the store!

Joy to the World by Jill

Wednesday, November 13, 2013

Jill is joining us today using our 1/8" Grosgrain ribbon to accent this stunning Holiday card!

IMG_1008

Jill first stamped her image (Penny Black) using Distress Paint then added a sentiment stamped in black on a punched circle.  She added pearls for a little extra embellishment but it is the thin grosgrain ribbon that finishes this card off perfectly!  The small size of the ribbon matches perfectly with the scale of the stamped image.

Frayed Knot with Christine Meyer

Wednesday, November 6, 2013

It's November and I for one am excited for this month where we can focus on all the things we are grateful for!  Today I am here to share one of our beautiful Lyon French Wired Ribbons that is the perfect addition to fall projects.
I really love this ribbon (Sandstone) because of the golden hues that come out in it, making it a perfect match for some fall projects.  First, I used the ribbon as a border strip underneath my photos and then I tied a knot and topped one end of the border with it.  Then to bring out those golden hues, I frayed the ends of my knot.   It's a simple, quick, but striking way to add some different texture to your layout!

Counting Down to Christmas...with Jamie

Friday, November 1, 2013

Welcome to November!  Before you know it Christmas will be here...which is why I started this next project!  It's Jamie with you today sharing a fun count down to Christmas!

Supplies used:

I know it is hard to see the project in the full photo...I just couldn't figure out how to photograph it :)  Here are some close ups...

Each loop is about 2" x 2-1/4" when finished which means you could place little treats in each one or you could use it like a traditional count down and just remove the loops as you go until you are down to Christmas day!

This project is a lot of fun to put together and easy enough to get the kids to help with!  It would also be a fun gift to get the Holiday season started and begin building the excitement!

Here is the tutorial:

1.  Cut out the pieces in your desired papers.
2.  Bring the tab end around and tuck it into the slot end to form a loop.
3.  Next cut a 20" piece of ribbon and pull one end through the loop as shown.
4.  Place the ends of your ribbon through a second loop, crossing the ribbon.
5.  Bring the ribbon up on top of the second loop and tie.
6.  Complete a bow and trim the ends of the ribbon.
7.  Continue with steps #3-6 until all 25 loops are in place.
8.  Adhere the numbers on the the larger circles and then adhere one number on each loop using a foam adhesive.

Thanks so much for stopping by!
