Just a note...

Thursday, January 31, 2013

Our Designer Jamie Cripps is a card making queen! Jamie assembled this sweet "just a note" card using ribbon to spice it up. Jamie says, "I used my Silhouette for the card pieces then added gray wired ribbon for dimension and interest! I love how easy the Lyon French Wired ribbon is to work with, and how it stays wherever you place it!"

Our French Wired ribbon is a dream to work with and one of our best sellers! Although it is named after Lyon, one of France's well known textile centers, it is actually made in Germany. Most of the colors have two shades of thread sewn together to give the ribbon an iridescent quality. It is bio-degradable (except for the wire) and comes in over 100 colors with available widths up to 2 3/8". Click HERE to see it all and shop!

Altered Canvas by Jill

Wednesday, January 30, 2013

Jill Foster's mixed media art is breathtaking! Jill created this lovely canvas and used velvet ribbon as a finishing touch.  Be sure to click on the photographs to view the details in a larger size;

Jill used Gelatos, gesso, acrylic paint, patterned paper, Glimmer Mist, stickers and rubber stamps to create the background, flowers, and vase. Modeling paste was used to add texture. Jill even altered the velvet bow with a bit of paint. Our velvet ribbon is Swiss made with a luxurious feel, in a variety of vibrant colors.  You'll find width options from 3/16 to 2".

Ribbon Feature; Ombre

Tuesday, January 29, 2013

Our Popular Ombre Ribbon is in the spotlight today! We carry a beautiful collection of 1 1/2" Ombre Ribbon available in 25 or 100 yard rolls. It's wired ribbon - so easy to work with, and the gradient colors blend perfectly from edge to edge.

Jill used a fuchsia ombre ribbon on her cute tags yesterday (scroll down for a peek!). Click HERE to see our fun color collection including cotton candy, pistachio, and thistle!

Playful Tags by Jill

Monday, January 28, 2013

One of Jill Foster's many talents include rubber stamping. For today's project, Jill created a set of stamped gift tags that couldn't be any cuter!

To embellish her tags with ribbon, Jill simply inserted one end of the ribbon through the hole in the tag, pulled both ends toward the top, then tied them together with a piece of twine. A self adhesive pearl adds a finishing touch;

Jill used our orange Dotted Ribbon and fuchsia Ombre Ribbon.

Creating gift tags with ribbon is a great way to use ribbon scraps! Join us all week for ribbon inspiration overload!

Altered Notepad and Pillow Box

Friday, January 25, 2013

Hello and welcome back to the Ribbons Unlimited, Inc. Blog! We have a 'Get Well' project for you today.

I needed a small get well gift for a special neighbor... She loves handmade items so I gathered a few supplies in my favorite colors and went to work. I altered a blank notepad by covering it with a stamped and colored piece of cardstock. I also stuffed a SRM pillow box with paper flowers (which she loves to use when crafting), and tied them up with pretty ribbon;

I've always loved orange and blue combined. I used a 3/4" wide satin ribbon combined with a sparkly blue "Dazzle" grosgrain ribbon to complement my color scheme.

I used clear stickers over the stamping on my tag.  The tag contains a little note on the opposite side, wishing her a speedy recovery;

I wrapped the pillow box in ribbon and tied it into a bow.  I added a button center with tangerine twine;

Magic Wand

Thursday, January 17, 2013

My little girl is attending a friend's birthday party this weekend. The birthday girl is a princess fanatic! I created a magic wand to serve as her gift topper;

I used a skewer to stuff a  Tube by SRM with cotton balls. I wrapped grosgrain ribbon around the tube and secured with heavy duty glue (E-6000). I created a big bow using a fun and colorful wired 1 1/2" Bali ribbon then draped the wand in coordinating grosgrain streamers. One of the streamers is a turquoise "Dazzle" grosgrain - it's shimmery and catches the light beautifully (but hard to photograph!). Our grosgrain ribbon comes in 196 colors and is available in widths up to 2 1/4" wide. We also carry grosgrain in a striped design and neon colors!

Thanks for stopping by! Join us tomorrow for a hair bow tutorial by Rae!

Altered Gift Bag by Rae

Wednesday, January 16, 2013

Ribbons Unlimited, Inc. Designer, Rae Barthel, needed a gift bag in a baby theme. She created this cuteness by altering a plain kraft bag. Rae says, "This week at work, we are having a baby shower for one of our coworkers. I purchased a diaper bag, and realized I needed a decent sized gift bag. I found the large kraft gift bag at Target, and replaced the original ribbon that created the handles of the bag with some pretty Ribbons Unlimited, Inc. ribbon and baby embellishments."

Introducing Designer, Jill Foster

Tuesday, January 8, 2013

Jill Foster has joined our Design Team and we couldn't be happier! Jill's extraordinary talents in paper crafting, rubber stamping, and mixed media art are sure to inspire!

Hi! I'm Jill Foster and am completely honored to be joining the Ribbons Unlimited Design Team. I am an avid stamper and cardmaker and am just beginning to delve into the world of mixed media. I recently moved back to my hometown in South Dakota from Arizona, where I lived for the last 8 years. I'm adjusting to the cooler weather- and am happy to say I haven't frozen yet! :) My husband and I love animals and have three dogs, ranging in size from a dachshund to a Saint Bernard. The three pups are quite the motley crew but they all love keeping me company in my craft room while I design!

Here's just a peek of what Jill can do when she gets crafty, and how ribbon dresses up her piece with such style;

You can see more of Jill's work and view her amazing tutorial videos at her blog, Inspired By. Welcome Jill! Scroll down to our first post for a giveaway, and pop over to Jill's blog for another!

Please welcome Jamie Cripps! Jamie has joined our Design Team and we are excited to see what she does with Ribbons Unlimited, Inc. product. We love her style - she always thinks 'out of the box'!

Hi! I am Jamie Cripps, a 30-something mother of two! I live near Detroit, Michigan with my craft-supportive husband of almost 15 years. I was introduced to scrapbooking when my daughter was born 13 years ago, but it wasn't until our first Disney vacation in 2006 that I became obsessed. I am currently designing for several companies and working part-time at my dream role of a Social Media Director and Design Team Lead for crafting companies! I have been published in several print and online magazines and have done catalog work.  I am so excited to join the Ribbons Unlimited, Inc. Design Team and can't wait to share my projects with you.

Here is just a sampling of what you'll see from Jamie over the coming months!
